I am Katie, a 20-year-old college student from Gainesville, GA. I made a decision to stay sexually pure until marriage when I was 13 and am proud to say I am still a virgin. I have found constant reminders, such as the “true love waits” rings and “Waiting While Dating” T-shirts are excellent ways to remind me and show others what I stand for. I have found even the strongest people need reminding. Just as a businessman uses a DayTimer to remind him of important meetings, I wear these symbols to remind me of my most important meeting, my wedding day.
I have been given many opportunities for serve to inform others of the benefits of abstinence. The way I enjoyed the most was helping to start “Waiting While Dating” rallies in my area. Waiting While Dating rallies are abstinence encouragement rallies that draw crowds of over 800 high school students.
Secondary virginity is also an important concept I try to tell others about. Although I have been fortunate enough to remain a virgin, it is important to know virginity can be claimed at any time.
